How Search Engines are Changing

Some of you have noticed the new arrow and x boxes next to Google search results. What are they? Well first, you have to have a Google account and be signed in to see them. If you are seeing the boxes along with the quote clouds, then you are participating in the Google Search Wiki.

Now, you can actually remove irrelevant search results and move up the more relevant ones. Pretty cool huh? You can also create notes and comments about specific search results. Well before you get too excited, you are the only one who can see your manipulated results and only when you are logged into GMail or some other Google account. However, if you click the "See all notes for this Search Wiki"link at the bottom of the page, you can see the collective edits of all members of the Google Search wiki.

Thinking about this from an SEO perspective... Google Search Wiki users will be able to remove search results that appear to be less relevant to them. So, what you want to do is to make sure you website is putting its best foot forward for each of those users. You don't want to be removed from someone's personal search results. So, you want to make sure that they see you as being relevant the first time. Good SEO work is more important now than ever before.
